Part 2: Assault & Battery Proceedings

There are several parts to the Assault & Battery Proceedings: Arraignment, Motion to Dismiss, Motion to Supress, Trial, Judgment and Sentencing. You are about to begin the first part, Arraignment.

Domestic violence cases may appear in court as either civil or criminal cases. A person claiming to be a victim of abuse may come to the court for civil relief in the form of an order of protection against the alleged abuser, or may file criminal charges, or both. This section of the virtual courtroom demonstrates criminal proceedings arising from allegations of domestic violence.
